The Inaugural J.U.S.T. Global Fellowship is Scheduled to Launch March 24, 2024
In partnership with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Center (CMMLK) in Havana, Cuba, Youth Mentoring Collaborative (YMC) will host its J.U.S.T. (Journeys to Uncover Social Truth) Global Fellowship from March 24 to March 31, 2024, with thirteen youth participating in this inaugural education-focused fellowship.
By participating in the Fellowship, youth will learn about Cuban people and culture, develop the skills to be an advocate for social justice, and cultivate relationships with other youth locally and internationally.
"As an educator and international traveler, I understand the value of experiencing life in another country. My previous visits to various countries was life changing. I became a better human being. Not only were my preconceived notions challenged and corrected, I quickly learned that there is no end to brotherhood and sisterhood. It is my wish that every student is able to experience international travel and see the world for themselves. This is truly the very best way to address local and global issues while appreciating the beauty of a culture different from what they are use to."
NaShonda Bender-Cooke, Educator and Vice-Chair, YMC Board of Directors
