We invite mentoring organizations, youth, and cross-sector partners from the workforce, government, education, and philanthropy to join us in exploring the topic of “Bridging Generations: The Role of Mentorship in Communities of Faith.” As part of the National Youth Employment Coalition’s (NYEC) Youth Champion Communities: Mayors Challenge, we will present Phase I recommendations from the Durham Youth Mentoring Alliance, host a community forum with panelists from across Durham, and continue the strategic planning process to enhance the strengths of the mentoring ecosystem in Durham.

Panel Description: In today’s changing society, which presents unprecedented challenges to communities, there is evidence that faith communities can enhance the success of youth through mentorship. But what does the concept of faith really offer for youth mentoring? How can faith communities utilize mentoring to create support systems and provide practical assistance to those who need it most?

In this discussion, you will explore the role that mentoring can play in helping individuals put their faith into action.
