Girl Spirit desires to equip every girl with tools for success through our distinctive programs and services within their community. Girls are given a safe and secure environment to dream and plan for their future. We foster principles of sisterhood and individuality. Girls collaborate on projects, explore their creativity, and embrace diversity through the Girl Spirit Experience.

Our mission is to transform the lives of girls ages 11-16 through character-building programs that develop self-awareness, self-management and social competence, which lead them to become a self-aware, self-managed and socially competent woman.

We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. We recognize that many girls face challenges that make reaching their potential more difficult than their peers. Research shows that Girls on the Run positively impacts all participants and has the greatest impact on girls who enter the program with lower perceptions of their physical, social, and emotional competencies. This knowledge further underscores our responsibility to provide welcoming and inclusive programming to all girls.

Informed by feminist, womanist, and social justice principles and theory, the Women's Center is seeking to create a space for Women of Color to grow into their authentic selves through connection with others, to learn to exercise agency and creativity in their daily lives, and to feel supported and empowered in all that they do. The program seeks to create a place where women and femme identifying students of color feel comfortable and included not only at the university, but also within the larger Durham community. Her Garden is designed specifically for women and femme identifying students of color; however, all are welcome to apply and participate. Mentees will have the opportunity to broaden their understanding of local and global challenges affecting women from varied cultural backgrounds and to participate in initiatives that enhance the well-being of these women's communities.

Our mission is to empower and inspire young girls to embrace self-love, regardless of their circumstances, foster leadership skills, engage in community service, and make informed and healthy life choices.

We believe in the power of mentorship and education. By guiding youth through academic challenges and athletic development, we shape them into the next generation of leaders, prepared for the demands of high school, college, and their future careers. Our programs focus on real-world skills—both on the field and in the classroom. From teamwork and discipline to academic excellence, we ensure that our students are prepared for success in all areas of life.
