What is the Outstanding Youth Leaders of the Year Scholarship?

The Outstanding Youth Leaders of the Year Scholarship award is a half-tuition, renewable scholarship that will be awarded to three prospective college students who demonstrate success within their respective mentoring programs.

The scholarship covers a total of $20,000 over four years, or $5,000 yearly. Each recipient will be honored at Youth Mentoring Collaborative's Carolinas Youth Mentoring Symposium. The scholarship is presented by YMC in partnership with the Ciara Arts and Science Foundation.

Requirements

  • Students are actively in a mentoring program affiliated with YMC.
  • Students must be a junior or senior in high school.
  • 3.0 GPA minimum (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Intend to major in the arts or sciences.
  • Submit a completed online application.

2024 Timeline

  • Application opens June 18, 2024
  • Application closes August 16, 2024
  • Finalist interviews in September 7-8, 2024
  • Recipients selected by September 20, 2024
